to be honest if you've got the money go to a salon and get it sorted out propaly by a professional, failing that if you can get to a hairdressing wholesalers like sallys or capital you can buy your own colour stripper, use it only on the black ends, once there of a similar shade to the rest of your hair then dye it all the shade of brown you want, but remember that your hair has probably experienced some damage so go for a lighter shade than you want because it will go darker than colour on box. wishing you the best of luck but like i said if youve got the money get it dun at a salon.
References :
First of all your friend needs to study in her book about hair pigments and the lightening process this info will help her on her next attempt. I am a hair vet of 19 years i have had my hair every color you can think of. When using permanent colors, first things first: is your hair chemically processed if it is overuse of coloring can be damaging. Once you have permanently colored your hair you have alter the color that is in the medulla ( the inner shaft where the pigment lies). this is irreversible! The reason your hair is orange is because the color has been altered and now it is responding to the new chemical. Everyone has a base color that you don't see that lies within the medulla. When you lighten the hair to far you will see it. it can be pink, blue, green, orange etc. That is also a sign of the hair being over processed. Your solution- Die it back with a product called BEGIN The spelling may be wrong. it comes in a orange ang black box, with an oriental person on it I think. However it will work. It is a henna which is permanent also. the difference with this product is that it is mixed with water which is not damaging to the hair. OR cut it off and grow it again. Good luck!!!
References :
Cosmetology School and EXPERIENCE

I know what i would do - i wouldn't let anyone else who wasn't 200% sure what they were doing anywhere near my hair! Go and see a professional hair colourist and get her to sort you out :o)x
